Peter Rutter is an artist and architect based in Farnham. His work, both en plein air sketches and architectural surveys, focusses on creating a physical record of moments, spaces or buildings that define the genius loci sense of place.

Qualifying as an architect in 1976, Peter started work out of college with a large developer, providing a breath of experience in various sectors across the UK and abroad, with his time in the middle east including the opportunity to design palaces for royalty and diplomats. In 1985 Peter decided to set up his own architectural practice which he quickly grew into a large multi-national firm, designing significant projects from a famous London store to a masterplan for a new city.

Today Peter has retired from his practice and set up a small architectural practice with his son. He has always sketched, his early education at college included traditionally based architectural drafting techniques including perspective drawings and elevations, but he has now gained the time and opportunity to reignite this passion and start a number of drawing projects that have always been an aspiration.
